Composer and band leader, Maria Schneider, releases her newest recording, The Thompson Fields, available on iTunes and ArtistShare. This is her first recording with The Maria Schneider Orchestra in eight years. This brand new recording is a homecoming of sorts, featuring a return to her 18 piece band with brand new music written for her top musicians such as Donny McCaslin, Rich Perry, Frank Kimbrough, and Lage Lund.

This album explores Maria's relationship with her hometown in southwest Minnesota, reflecting love of the landscapes, birds, and fields, but it also reflects all the inspirations in her life so far, from the first time she heard Samba in Brazil to working with the dearly loved and beautiful trumpet player, Laurie Frink.

See what others are saying about this long-awaited album!

" ...an extravagant show of her strengths: precise, expressive harmony; ribbons of diaphanous texture; a rhythmic momentum that doesn't feel propulsive so much as wind-borne."- The New York Times

"It captures Schneider's artistic vision unlike anything else in her catalogue."-The NYC Jazz Record

"You don't listen to CDs from the Maria Schneider. You "experience" them."-Audiophile Audition
