About this project

Welcome to my debut BlueNote/ArtistShare® Project: Mercy. I am very excited to share the creation of this new music with you through ArtistShare®. My new CD Mercy features my original compositions as well as my piano playing. My close friends and one-of-a-kind musicians Brian Blade, drums; Bill Frisell, guitar; and John Patitucci, bass; all join me for this new CD.

During this project, I will be sharing my creative process with you. My approach to making music has been strongly influenced by all of the great musicians and ensembles I've worked with over the years, such as the Brian Blade Fellowship, Cassandra Wilson, Rosanne Cash, Iggy Pop, and Joni Mitchell, among others. Each of the ensembles I've worked with has something soulful and unique about it, and I've taken away something different from everyone I've been involved with musically. I am looking forward to sharing my personal creative process with you, which is a result of all of the music I've made up to this point in my life.

As a participant in my new Mercy Project, you will take part in this artistic adventure as I share the creative process behind Mercy with you. I will share my unique approach to composition and improvisation through exclusive video footage from the recording sessions, project updates, sketches of my compositions, previews of the music from the album, and much more. I will share all of this with you through ArtistShare® via online streaming videos and audio shows, written project news updates, photo galleries, downloadable content, and more.
