About This Offer

Recorded on The Thompson Fields, "Arbiters of Evolution" was inspired by the magnificent birds-of-paradise, (documented at birdsofpardisproject.org) of which there are many species, all with elaborate plumage and extraordinary male displays. For this work, the soloists are depicting these displays. About 14 minutes in length, this piece requires a tenor player and baritone player who are both willing to play expressively and evocatively. We've included many tools to help prepare your group, so with the help of our recording as a reference and the additional tools (video interviews and various mixes for your players to rehearse with) that we've added, this piece should be very playable by eager groups.

Though I've written this for accordion (a regular feature of my band), "Arbiters of Evolution" is playable without it, though it pains me to say that, because I love the sound and what accordion brings to this piece.
