Recorded on Sky Blue, "Cerulean Skies" was commissioned by the New Crowned Hope Festival, Vienna, Austria, and received its world premiere at the Wiener Konzerthaus on December 1, 2006. It's an extensive piece that requires quite an experienced band. But with the help of the recording and some of the aids we're offering here, it's all doable. I've included interviews with all of the soloists and an MP3 of the piece without solos for your students to practice with. That MP3 can be helpful for your rhythm section as well. We've  included a version without drums for your drummer's practice. One element that is really quite necessary for the performance of the piece is the accordion, and of course, and array of bird calls for musicians in the band, and for a few "planted" folks in the audience. The source for bird calls I've used is Lark in the Morning. You can visit their site and hear sound samples of each call. If you dig around the internet, surely there are more.
