"Arbiters of Evolution" was recorded on The Thompson Fields. This piece was inspired by the magnificent birds-of-paradise.  There are many species of these birds, and they all have elaborate plumage and displays. For this work, the soloists are depicting these displays. It's about 14 minutes in length. It requires a tenor player and and baritone player who are willing to play expressively and evocatively. We've included many tools to help prepare your group, so with the help of our recording as a reference, and those tools we've added, this piece is very playable by eager groups.

Though was have accordion in our group, and I love the sound, this would be playable without that part.

Reed Doubles:

  1. Cl./Sop./Fl.
  2. Cl./Sop./Fl./Alto Fl.
  3. Bs. Cl.
