This year, we are touring more than ever before, so it’s an opportune moment to share our road experience while releasing a live recording that’s been very difficult to get until now. I am happy to finally be able to offer my band's first LIVE recording to you through ArtistShare and this LIVE Project. We recorded it during a weeklong engagement at the Jazz Standard in New York, January 2000. Up until now, it was only available in a gift package with 2 bottles of Maria Schneider Riesling. The album showcases mostly arrangements and older music of mine. I love this album because it captures the life and energy the band has when playing a live gig and is very different from all of our studio recordings. David Baker, the recording engineer to whom this album is dedicated, did a masterful job capturing the sound of the band and the feel of the room live to two-track.
As a participant you will be privy to our story as we travel throughout Europe and the United States (see Events Calendar), experiencing everything through photo galleries, streaming video, and audio journals that I’ll call in from the road. I’ll be talking with the band and streaming their comments. I’ll try to capture it all. These trips are always eventful, so time will tell of the excitement level we’ll generate! My stress will become your entertainment. It all begins on November 4th, 2005 when we head to Europe. Any tours happening within a year from now will be included.
As a 'Live at the Jazz Standard' Participant you will receive the newly issued 'Live at the Jazz Standard/Days of Wine and Roses' album via mail (released November 22, 2005). You will also receive a bonus download track of 'Strange Fruit' (128 kbps Mp3) that was recorded during the Standard engagement, but never included with the album until now.
